SHANTIKULA - HOME OF TRIRATNA BUDDHISTS IN JOHANNESBURG

Shantikula opened in September 2006 as a combined vision for a Triratna Buddhist Centre in South Africa. It houses a shrine room for meditation purposes and to present classes in, and a large reception room where studies and informal gatherings happen. There is also a small Buddhist library which is mainly a reference library that is available for interested people to read or study in. A well sized garden for walking meditation amongst succulent, indigenous flora allows for contemplation and sometimes just shere wonder at what nature provides us with. The centre is located near the Emmarentia Botanical Garden and this provides a picturesque setting for those arriving at our gates, and also allows for longer walks in the beauty of the nearby parks.

There are regular meditation classes and the times of these classes can be viewed on our programme. Do visit us and share in a lifestyle aimed at Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels, as Sangharakshita intended with the Triratna lifestyle.
